Open letter to the White House regarding false claims on the White House web site

Using the contact form at https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact, I recently recently sent the following comment to President Obama regarding false claims on the White House web site:

========== START OF COMMENT ==========

I wanted to make you aware of several false claims being made on the White House web site that are being widely quoted by other sources. Two of them are the following claims at https://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/microsites/ostp/imageofstemdepictiondoc_02102016_clean.pdf:

"Today there are over half a million unfilled jobs in information technology across all sectors of the economy, which reinforces the notion that computer science has become a basic requisite for 21st century jobs. Economic projections indicate that by 2018, there could be 2.4 million unfilled STEM jobs."

The first claim of over half a million unfilled jobs in information technology is addressed at http://econdataus.com/claim600k.htm. The second claim of 2.4 million unfilled STEM jobs by 2018 is addressed at http://econdataus.com/claim2_4m.htm. As explained there, this appears to come from a 5-year old projection of the total STEM jobs that would be created from 2008 through 2018, NOT the number the jobs that would be unfilled in 2018.

Two other false claims that are repeated in the White House blog are addressed at http://econdataus.com/claim400k.htm and http://econdataus.com/claim262.htm. Both of these have been widely repeated in defense of various policies. Because of the high credibility that many people give to statements made on the White House web site, it seems critical that such claims be thoroughly fact-checked so that false claims such as these are not stated as fact. Also, all claims should be sourced. If you disagree with any analysis, please provide an explanation with source and I will update it. Thank you.

========== END OF COMMENT ==========

I received no response for several weeks so I resent the comment to another selection on the Contact select list, a White House Office. After several weeks of receiving no response, I resent it one last time to another selection, Vice President Joe Biden. That was on September 6, 2016 and I have received no response. I am therefore posting the comment here in case there is anyone who is interested. Any responses can be sent to admin AT econdataus DOT com .
