Comparing the 2018 House and the 2020 Senate Races in North Carolina by County

The plot below shows the shift in the vote share margin for every precinct in North Carolina that matched between the 2018 House races and the 2020 Senate race. The reason for using the 2018 House races is that there was no North Carolina Senate or Governor race in 2018. Precincts are compared in all but one of North Carolina's 13 congressional districts. District 3 cannot be compared because there was no Democrat candidate for District 2 in 2018. That is also the apparent reason for the two PITT precincts in the upper left of the plot below. Pitt County is divided between Districts 1 and 3 and it appears that those two precincts had voters for both districts. As a result, the vote shares in Precinct 0101 were 2.19% Democrat and 97.81% Republican and the votes shares in Precinct OS Winterville were 16.84% Democrat and 83.16% Republican. Hence, they should be ignored in this comparison.
